LETTER: Opposes the proposed MAT clinic in Sequim

Prefers different plan

Choosing a lucrative method of supposedly helping addicts by giving them daily drugs at a medical clinic is a cruel way to build the coffers of the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe, the city of Sequim and Olympic Medical Center.

The alternative: an actual medical pain program that I have found was successful across the nation to actually change lives and return people to their families, work and health — complete with physicians, clinical psychologists and physical therapists.

The two-month program includes twice daily 60-minute endurance/aerobic, strengthening, and flexibility group exercise after thorough examination of each patient for pre-existing conditions and weekly updated program as progress is made.

Also twice daily there are 60-minute counseling and meditation sessions lead by a clinical psychologist.

The physician dynamically eliminates all pain medication by end of two months.

Stop pretending the medicine assisted treatment (MAT) program is good for the addict and Sequim.

Initiate a program that will actually save and change lives and our city.
