LETTERS: President far from being an American patriot

Turning my radio on early one recent morning, I felt like I was listening to Nazi-era footage in fascist Europe.

But it was a rebroadcast of Trump speaking to a stadium full of his supporters the previous evening.

It was the president speaking and actually inculcating racial hatred toward other American citizens.

I became nauseous listening to the huge crowd chanting back, and my heart ached to think of this hatred being directed toward four women of color.

Never in my lifetime have I heard an American president openly, publicly fomenting hatred toward American citizens.

Nor have you. Terms like “disgraceful” fall far short.

This is in fact utterly repugnant, and so far beneath the office of president that it should be condemned by everyone.

And lead to his removal from office.

This is the same man who 11 years ago was publicly starting chants challenging the citizenship of his predecessor — our first African-American president.

Then more recently, fomenting hatred toward a number of silently protesting athletes.

And challenging their patriotism. All whom were African-Americans.

The president of the United States is the elected representative of all Americans — every citizen.

Not just those he likes.

Last month ended with the public sworn testimony of Robert Mueller, a Vietnam veteran, lifelong public servant and a true patriot answering Congress’ questions.

Mueller testified that the Trump top campaign officials, along with Trump’s own sons, sought direct contact with Russia multiple times during the election.

Patriots?

Trump a patriot?

Really?
