LETTER:Rats in PA

An article in the PDN “Quick Read” section prompts this email, the one about Chicago being the country’s “rattiest city.”

Rats are taking over Port Angeles, too.

Late this summer, my son found that a rat had taken up residence under the hood of my SUV which I keep under cover in a carport.

I’ve lived in this house for more than 30 years and this is a first.

I have two cats, one indoor/outdoor, the other outdoor and despite them being good hunters, the rats are outpacing their hunting skills.

Neighbors both east and west of me are plagued with rats, seeing them run across fences and outside walls.

In speaking with these neighbors, both have told me that they are hearing from friends that rats have just taken over in town.

It’s scary, disgusting and particularly troublesome now while we are dealing with COVID-19.

Hoping you’ll check into this.

It is alarming
