Since many are accusing, headlining, and asking, I am, indeed, the 80-year old woman who was kicked out of Mountain View Pool by the YMCA management.
I was accused of discrimination for speaking up, seeing a man dressed in a woman’s swimsuit in the women’s shower/dressing room watching little girls pull down their swim suits to use the toilets.
I am not anti-transgender.
I am pro-female human, all women and all children.
I am not a presser or a poseur.
I am not young, male, christian or a member of the eponymous YMCA.
I am for privacy and safety for women and children.
I do not belong to any cult or promote any ideology.
I am not a bigot, transphobe, racist or abuser of others.
YMCA administrators has said I abused staff and patrons in the past but I have yet to see the documentation.
I live in a community and therefore have a responsibility to step up for humans and other living things that do not have a voice; humans and animals being mistreated, left without shelter, food, or safety, often justified by ill-conceived policies and laws.
My concerns now are that in Port Townsend the management and elected have embraced and promoted through legislation the rights of one group over another.
Let Julie swim.
