How inappropriate for Mayor Armacost and his friends on the city council to force our city manager’s resignation.
Charlie Bush is undoubtedly one of the best city managers that we could have.
Among his accomplishments are work that enabled the YMCA to come to Sequim in the SARC building, helping to further U.S. Highway 101 corridor improvements, starting a Rainy Day Fund and helping to improve our city’s emergency operations capabilities.
These are just a few of Mr. Bush’s achievements.
Why would Mayor Armacost insist upon a secretive executive meeting to discuss a situation with Charlie Bush?
He had resistance from Council member Brandon Janisse, who wanted it made public or not held at all, but Armacost prevailed.
In the end, Armacost and the other council members, with the exception of Janisse and Tom Ferrell, voted to have Charlie resign.
Was this simply revenge for SOS (Save Our Sequim) not being successful in stopping the MAT (medication-assisted treatment) clinic?
No transparency in this City Council is a huge issue.
Where is the democracy and accountability to the citizens of this area?
If Charlie resigns, finding a competent replacement may be difficult with a council that seems to endorse a lack of transparency and accountability.
I commend Brandon Janisse for standing up for Mr. Bush.
