The article about Frank Ducceschi (“Former newspaper publisher dies”) detailed numerous accomplishments at what became known under his leadership as the Peninsula Daily News as well as his tireless efforts to benefit the North Olympic Peninsula in other ways.
My gratitude for the way his work will continue contributing to our area helps ease the pain of losing this dear friend.
As an outstanding journalist, he helped make sure we were informed of issues affecting our lives.
His volunteer activities made a difference in community cornerstones ranging from the Port Angeles Symphony and Juan de Fuca Festival of the Arts to business and civic groups, Peninsula College, the Peninsula Home Fund and more.
I’m particularly grateful for the many hours Frank gave when I was leading the Peninsula College journalism program.
He helped interview candidates for Webster journalism scholarships, met with the student newspaper staff to offer constructive critiques of its Buccaneer publication, and mentored PC college student interns.
Those students who benefited from his commitment to the highest standards of journalism as well as his knowledge, depth of experience and wit are continuing his legacy through their own professional and volunteer activities.
