I agree with the letter regarding the anomalous aspect of the new Lincoln Street obstacles.
However, painting them red would not be wise.
The world has a substantial population of people, mostly men, who lack normal color perception.
Most people with color vision deficiency have difficulty with red/cyan and green/magenta, or any combination thereof, but see blue/yellow with the same intensity as those with normal color vision.
This is one reason for blue and red lights on emergency vehicles.
Red has minimal intensity for those with color vision deficiency, especially at night.
Yellow stands out quite clearly for everyone.
