Does anyone remember the Berlin Wall?
Does anyone remember how outraged our government was or how the American people denounced those who built it?
Does anyone remember the celebrations when the wall came down?
Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony became part of the celebrations, with people singing along to the chorus in the last movement, repeating the famous words by Schiller:
“Alle Menschen werden Brüder … diesen Kuss der ganzen Welt …”
[All men become brothers … this kiss of the whole world …]
Meanwhile, someone wants to build yet another wall — and in our very own USA.
Walls are a very ugly, dangerous and self-defeating thing.
Think about it and have a heart.
