LETTER: Time to panic

Shouldn’t we be getting alarmed about the coronavirus in Clallam?

Per the PDN:

On June 29, six weeks ago, Clallam had had a total of 38 cases in five months.

By July 28, one month later, that more than doubled to 89 cases.

On Aug. 6, we’re at 117 cases — that’s 28 more cases in nine days.

As of Thursday, we had hit a rate per 100,000 of 49 and it is growing.

Safe is considered less than 25; JeffCo is 15.7.

In the past six weeks, we’ve tripled the number of cases in Clallam County and met the definition of a danger zone.

If I were Dr. Unthank, I’d be hitting the tsunami sirens.

But she seems eerily calm as we slide off the cliff.

Simple masking and distancing would flatten the curve, if we would get serious — instead of political — about it.

The curve is no longer an abstraction in Clallam.

We’re spiking.

Isn’t it time for us to act like grownups and control the spread of coronavirus?
