LETTER: Ted’s tree

I read the obituary for Virginia Serr and was glad to read of her dedication to the giant madrona tree on west Eighth Street in Port Angeles.

She gave freely to keep the tree in good health.

This was in memory of her husband Ted, who happened to be my dentist until his death.

Unfortunately the tree Virginia tried to save, is itself, slowly dying.

It likely soon will have to be removed for public safety.

Madrona wood is extremely hard and whoever does the project will have some good lumber.

Would it be possible to use some of the lumber to construct at least two benches, in memory of Ted and Virginia, to be placed somewhere appropriate in the city, in their memory?
