Seriously, how can anyone claim to be knowledgable of the facts presented by both sides of the proposed medication-assisted treatment clinic project, yet not understand that Save Our Sequim is not opposing the treatment. It’s the location, location, location.
SOS is comprised of over 2,200 citizens and it’s unrealistic not to expect to hear emotional and angry words at the two meetings held by the city council and the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe.
Both the council and the tribe stated they wanted to give Sequim residents an opportunity to voice their concerns.
Then by limiting the comment time to two or three minutes it clearly showed the meetings were a farce.
The tribe, as well as the Sequim City Council, have done everything possible to avoid allowing SOS to fully voice our stand that’s supported by current statistics — not the 2016 stats the tribe is using that provides false impressions of the need for this regional facility.
Under these circumstances, a person has to conclude, this is more about money then helping the addicts.
If the council and tribe, as well as our one-sided Clallam County commissioner, Mark Ozias, are so sure of their facts about the positive side of building this facility in our town, why are they making such an extreme attempt to squash SOS’s voice?
In five years, will our tourism brochures read “Welcome to sunny Sequim, home of a large regional MAT facility, surrounded by panhandlers, homeless and addicts?”
