Walking into a store today, wearing my new “Bernie 2020” T-shirt, I was stopped by someone who asked if Bernie Sanders was running for president again.
He said he’d wanted to vote for Bernie in 2016.
It shocked me to learn that this election hasn’t touched everyone.
My wife and I attended Bernie’s rally, along with over 17,000 others, at the Tacoma Dome.
We were certainly a diverse group.
Our commonality is that we are Americans who don’t want anyone left out in the cold, saddled with jobs that don’t pay a living wage, bankrupted by medical issues, or subjected to the sickening fallout of endless wars.
Our country and its resources have been steadily compromised by an elite few who have taken political control.
I believe Bernie is the man whose record, and passion, can turn things around.
Our system of governance, call it a constitutional democracy, is not a given.
It’s kind of like love in the sense that you don’t achieve it and put it on the mantle like a trophy. It needs revitalizing generation after generation, and that takes education and passion.
Don’t let our respected country, once leader of the free world, slide into a dictatorship, where we’re afraid to speak our minds without fear.
I encourage you to learn about the issues and candidates, talk to folks, and vote.
