Millions of Americans depend on their Social Security checks, including members of my family.
Social Security is the single most successful program at lifting Americans out of poverty.
Every congressional representative has a duty to protect Social Security, and I am deeply disappointed to see that our congressman, Derek Kilmer, recently signed a letter supporting Mitt Romney’s bill to cut Social Security.
He has backtracked on that now, but the fact that he would sign such a letter during a global pandemic is mind-boggling, and shows just how out of touch with our district Mr. Kilmer is.
His Democratic opponent in the Aug. 4 primary, Rebecca Parson, has sworn never to cut Social Security benefits.
I urge folks across this district to support her.
