LETTER: Suggests vaccine website

Washington state will receive a limited number of COVID-19 vaccine doses.

Because the vaccines, especially the Pfizer vaccine, need to be kept very cold, scheduling is important.

People should be vaccinated one right after the other so no vaccine is wasted.

The state plans to distribute the vaccine in stages, prioritizing medical personnel, essential workers and very aged people.

Later stages will include people with elevated risk and finally the general public.

Dr. Tom Locke, Jefferson County health officer, said, “There’s going to be a lot of work identifying people on the list and contacting them and seeing who is interested in immunization.”

I suggest that Clallam and Jefferson counties set up a website, and mailing address, where people who are interested in receiving the vaccine can register, along with their relevant factors such as age, high-risk condition, work status, etc.

The county can notify registered people when and where to arrive for their vaccination.

This is more efficient than tracking people down since everyone who registers is interested in immunization.

I would like to register to save my place in the line for the future time that vaccination becomes available for people in my category.
