Putting aside the obvious hypocrisy of Mitch McConnell concerning the confirmation of a new Supreme Court Justice, let me present some facts and perceptions.
It seems the matter of utmost importance in the Republicans’ minds on the court is Roe v. Wade.
Many people believe that an abortion is killing a soul, that the soul enters the body at the moment of conception.
I will not bother to argue that point herein but explain why that is not a constitutional argument.
First, it is not a fact, but a belief, a religious belief.
There is separation of church and state in this country, or there is supposed to be.
One hundred years ago, this year, women won the right to vote, confirming our full citizenship.
We have the right to choose.
No one will impose an abortion on a woman, and no one should impose the denial of abortion to any citizen.
I hear the vivid description of a baby being torn out of the mother’s body in an abortion.
What about the already born babies that were torn from their mother’s or father’s arms when INS or HHS separated children from their parents and put them into cages?
There are currently thousands children in detention cells; at least seven have died of COVID-19, according to news sources.
Also, over 11 million children in the U.S. are food-insecure, according to news sources.
How about making the changes to and for those who have been born?
Prioritize and do it constitutionally.
