LETTER: Right and wrong way to perform national anthem

Did anyone watch the National Basketball Association all-star game or the Daytona 500 this month?

If so, you heard the right way and the wrong to play or sing the anthem.

The wrong way was at the All-Star game and the way “Fergie” [Fergie Duhamel] destroyed it.

Why do people insist on putting their own spin on our national treasure of a song?

Rosanne Barr and Carl Lewis are other examples of folks who have no business “singing.”

Now if you watched the Daytona 500, you heard the way the anthem should be played or sung, fast.

It was performed by a Navy band, fast.

Event planners, please request that your performers sing the anthem the right way.

Tim Morgan,

Irondale
