Needs more time
I attended the Clallam County PUD smart meter meeting.
The county has been fairly responsive to the public attending these meetings.
At the meeting, I asked a question that got a disturbing answer.
I asked, “What would it take to stop the smart meter project?”
What did Port Angeles and Port Townsend do to stop the going forward of their smart meter programs?
Do we need 1,000 people to show up — 5,000, 10,000?
Do we need to sign a petition?
A PUD representative responded that the board did not know why or how those cities stopped their programs but Clallam PUD intended to go forward with its project.
People in the audience said let’s vote on it, let the public vote on it.
A public utility was not interested in the concerns of the public.
I think the public needs more education on the smart meter technology and needs more time for this.
