LETTER: Permissible thought

If I were given a wish by that genie, in that glass bottle, it would be to have the ability to express such words as the Federalist Papers and Constitution.

But, more so, I wish, I had the capability to defend what the Founding Fathers and many more have paid the price for, in the same alignment of thought and word those great men laid down on those faded parchments.

I’ve been told social media is mightier than the sword, but that depends on who owns the algorithms.

I’ve asked myself, even if I had the old men’s abilities, would I be allowed access to the web.

A few years ago, as one of five commissioner of Clallam County Parks and Recreation, seeking value for the taxpayer’s dollar, I’d become a pariah to the other commissioners.

Today, I find myself unsuccessfully advocating governance by the people, not through administrative mandate.

I wish I knew how this turns out?

Unfortunately, we do, for history tells us so.

As a country, we degenerate to a culture of the lowest common denominator, one permissible thought, “A Vax card! A permit to have a government mandated opinion.” circa, 1935 Germany.

Hell, North Korea.

Unfortunately, wishes don’t come true, but history does.
