How did we get here?
Why have parents unilaterally ceded their voice in the education of their children?
American public education has been on the decline for decades, falling far behind other industrialized nations.
Educators today are determined social justice warriors.
Many of them are overtly liberal in their political views, and promulgate concepts of group think, Marxist
socialism, sex education, globalism, and a postmodern worldview.
One concern of Washington state parents is Comprehensive Sexual Education, which has become mandatory curriculum in public schools.
Notwithstanding a parental opt-out clause, teaching young children about LGBTQ issues will likely lead to ostracizing students who do not attend those classes.
As our country experiences extremely divisive political, social, and health crises, much unrest and confusion permeates public consciousness.
Woke educators believe it is their duty to enlighten parents and students with the progressive movement agenda.
Progressives utilize certain buzz words to invoke emotional rather than intellectual responses.
Children are easy prey.
Differing views that are deemed “outside of woke ideals” are quickly dismissed.
Thus many students are fearful of expressing their views or the views of their parents.
Is this truly public education?
Of course not.
But parents do have a voice.
Our taxes fund school districts and pay their salaries.
We can resist the teaching of courses which support a specific political party or social agenda.
Parents must take more responsibility for the education of their children.
Speak out boldly.
