LETTER: Opposed to clinic, even if they call me names

Calling me names

When I have friends over, I think it would be easier to say that I’m coming out as a coal supporter or that I wear fur underwear from endangered species, than to say I oppose the “Mega-MAT” [medication-assisted treatment clinic] in Sequim.

The reaction I get is the same as if I openly relieved myself on my kitchen table.

They saw my “No to Mat” sign as they pulled up to my house, but I’m sure they thought they could do an intervention and tell me that I should trust the words of the proposed clinic and our local politicians.

Since I oppose the location for the facility, I guess I have to live with being looked at as a racist, bigot, Nazi and worse.

In the past, when my little 7-year-old niece did not have a good argument on why she should have extra desserts, she used to

call me a [inappropriate name] in her temper tantrums.

She was the first person who used character assassination on me when there was not a good argument to be made.

I first attended an outdoor opposition rally one evening and I did not see puppies and kittens being sacrificed in the name of President Donald Trump.

I did not hear hate-filled speeches, except for my freezing wife telling me I should have told her this was going to be held outdoors, just wonderful people who felt deceived by their political leaders and Jamestown.

Call me what you must, even if you jump up-down and call me names.

Wayne Pedersen,

Sequim
