LETTER: Noise solution

In reference to the Aug. 10 letter “Airplane noise.”

There are several computer and phone/electronic device applications for tracking aviation traffic, including Flight Aware.

Instead of polarizing efforts of opposition, why not just identify the pilot using the app and reach out to him or her for solutions?

If overhead traffic is becoming a nuisance, you can easily identify, contact, and request that they vary their routines in ways which avoid these impacts or intrusions.

Open Flight Aware and you will find numerous ship symbols tracking across the screen.

Click on the offending aircraft and the registration number appears.

You can acquire registered owner information by Google search.

Most pilots not only want to comply with laws but also with recommendations and procedures which enhance safe and complaint free outcomes.

In terms of primary training, there are some ground reference maneuvers which require altitudes as low as 600 feet.

Additionally, I’m sure everyone can appreciate the importance of simulated engine failures in airplanes which only have one motor.

Obviously, these may generate some noise at low altitude when the drill is finished and full throttle is applied to climb back to safe altitudes.

Unless performing these maneuvers or other specified exceptions, the FAA requires all to adhere to minimum safe altitudes, which are 500 feet from any person, vessel, vehicle or structure and 1,000 feet over congested areas.

We treasure our airport.

Please don’t oppose it.
