U.S. Sen. Patty Murray, D-Seattle, spoke in Port Hadlock on Oct. 11 about her bill designed to help working families with child-care costs (“Murray Visits Hadlock Center,” PDN, Oct. 12).
As to how her bill would be funded, Murray said it’s a work in progress.
“The real question is, how can we not afford this?” she asked.
Well, senator, the answer isn’t that hard.
Quit voting — as you did — for a war budget in the neighborhood of $700 billion (HR 2810-National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal year 2018), an amount that exceeded even President Donald Trump’s request.
Put real flesh-and-blood people over the interests of private war-making industries.
Remember, once you were a soccer mom.
Help other moms and other kids here in Washington state.
Please don’t spend our tax dollars to kill other moms, and other kids, all around the world.
