LETTER: McLaughlin concerned about victims of crime

Concern from the top

Anyone who has been victimized, whether violently or bloodlessly, knows the profound damage done to personal and private security.

I appreciate Jim McLaughlin’s concern for a victim’s assurance that the Sheriff’s Office understands that loss.

Individual deputies, of course, can and often exemplify that concern, but it should come from the top.

The department, under Jim McLaughlin as sheriff, would increase the number of deputies, allowing sufficient time for a thorough dealing with each call, as well as necessary follow-up.

I support Jim McLaughlin and pray that every voter might be reminded that no one is exempt from becoming a victim.

All should be comforted knowing that such full support is provided when a crime is committed in Clallam County.

Lonnie Oglesby,

Port Angeles
