LETTER: Lots to love about a wetter summer

I have urged myself to write a softer letter in regards to weather reports that have been bothering me.

Reputable meteorologists on all the news channels, local and statewide, have reported recently on our recent wet weather.

Maybe it’s a little wetter than normal for July, but they all seem to categorize wet weather as some sort of bummer.

I watch national weather, too: Tropical Storm Barry is, as I write this, bearing down on New Orleans.

I feel for New Orleans, but our region, as has been reported, is currently in a drought.

I love the rain.

Rain brings life.

Especially when we need it.

So why do weatherpersons say, “We’ll see nicer weather when the rain goes away”?

So people can play on the beaches?

Hike without getting wet?

We should feel blessed if it rains when we need it so badly.
