LETTER: Kiwanis centennial

In Port Angeles, Kiwanis has been helping kids for 100 years. You might have attended one of our club’s dinner auctions or contributed school supplies or purchased nuts to help our programs succeed. You probably know some of our members. You’ve seen us in the neighborhood, in church or at the grocery store.

We do it because kids need Kiwanis. In fact, our club selects projects after asking community leaders where our support is needed most. For example, we sponsor the Port Angeles High School Key Club, KidsFest, and provide scholarships to graduating high school seniors. Some of our projects even replace school or civic events that have been reduced by budget cuts.

This year we are celebrating our centennial anniversary. As we celebrate 100 years, we’re also looking for people to join us. We know life is busy — work, family and other daily demands can interfere with even the best intentions. But we also know that more children than ever need what Kiwanis provides.

We reach more kids when we have more members. That’s why we’re extending this invitation to change lives — maybe even including your own.

Kids need Kiwanis, and Kiwanis needs you. Find out more at
