LETTER: Jefferson deserves best possible jurisprudence

Best jurisprudence

It is bad enough that Jeffersonians have for years experienced questionable jurisprudence in District Court.

Now we are asked to elect a retiring judge’s handpicked choice as successor.

This spells trouble for the public as well as any candidate trying to rectify this disgraceful public disservice.

Any criticism is brushed off as negative campaigning.

Which is truly negative campaigning?

Trying to continue business as usual by sugarcoating the retiring judge’s and clique’s predetermined candidate or trying to change the court for the better by electing a better trained, more experienced, truly ethical attorney as our new judge?

Courtrooms are places which most people seldom experience.

Complex laws and proceedings make competent, ethical lawyers and judges necessary.

There should never be questions about the ethics or competency of any judge or attorney practicing in any court.

Pointing this out to voters is not negative campaigning.

It is a candidate’s, and a voter’s, duty to speak out regarding these matters.

Envision yourself or someone you care about in our district court in the future.

Do you believe that everyone deserves the best possible jurisprudence?

Honor that belief.

Elect attorney Mindy Walker as Jefferson County District Court judge.

Port Townsend
