LETTER: Invest in community

As a born-and-raised resident of Port Angeles, small business owner and mother, I have high hopes that our community will vote to pass the 2020 capital levy to fund much needed and overdue school renovations.

Although it is tough to squeeze more out of an already tight budget, I understand the importance of investing in the community I’ve chosen to start a business and raise a family in.

I sincerely believe that if we can step up at this crucial time, we will reap the benefits tenfold in the future.

Our schools already host amazing teachers and offer phenomenal programs; with added facility improvements and safety updates, our schools can be the whole package.

Since schools are often the number one thing young professionals look at before relocating, this levy intends to ensure that Port Angeles can be a contender.

The steady uptick of this demographic specifically will refuel our local economy.

With a little sacrifice, some creativity and a commitment to focus on abundance over scarcity, each citizen can choose to support our community’s economic future and the safety and prosperity of our kids and their kids to follow.

For me that looks like canceling a rarely used Netflix subscription, washing my own car and foregoing a few lattes are fairly small sacrifices to support the bigger picture.
