Regardless of who wins the election, the other side will contest the vote.
The result ultimately will be a decision by the Supreme Court, currently only eight members.
Should the court be evenly split, 4 – 4, then, when the terms of Trump and Pence expire on Jan. 21, on Jan 22 we might get an interim President Pelosi having all presidential powers, which she would exercise with a vengeance under the pressure of the radical four.
That gives us insight into the Dem fierce opposition to nomination and confirmation of a new justice.
The Dems automatically assume the new justice would vote for Trump, because that is what they expect a Dem-nominated liberal justice would do.
But that is not a given as the court is apolitical, and decides on facts, not political affiliation.
