LETTER: Initiative 976 would hit Clallam hard

All voters need to know the terrific damage I-976 can do if it is passed.

Infrastructure of our roads, bridges and ferry systems will be decimated for lack of money to pay for maintenance and safety.

In Clallam County, the entire bus system could cease to exist.

This includes fixed bus routes, dial a ride, and paratransit.

What will happen to the poor old lady who relies on paratransit to get to a store to buy her food and medicine?

What will happen to the disabled non-senior who cannot drive who needs to get to a doctor, dentist, etc?

What will happen to a disabled non-driver person who needs paratransit to get to a paying job?

Public transportation is a life sustaining, basic necessity for many people in Clallam County and in the entire state of Washington.

Creta A. Hendricks,

Port Angeles
