Separation of powers, checks and balances, oversight, separation of church and state and co-equal branches of government.
These things are not the enemies of the people. They are what protects the people from tyranny and religious persecution.
These are the things that Trump and the GOP are now eroding.
If knowingly spreading false information with the intent of discrediting, impeding and ultimately invalidating a criminal investigation constitutes the crime of obstruction of justice, then not only are Trump and his administration guilty, but so are the GOP, Fox News and conservative pundits.
And, if ignorance is indeed no excuse for committing a crime, then are not conservative bloggers, tweeters and Facebook posters spreading the same lies as truth, either knowingly or not, also guilty?
If we cannot turn Congress blue this November and retake the White House in 2020, then this 246-year-old American experiment known as democracy is in very serious trouble and may be coming to an end.
And wow.
Ain’t that going to make Putin happy.
Think that is overly dramatic?
Ask yourself just how decimated leadership in the Justice Department has become, and how under attack the FBI is right now.
Don’t think that the GOP is dedicated to seizing a tyrannical power?
Ask yourself which party is raising the alarm about Russian interference and which party is ignoring it.
Ask yourself which party tries to protect our right to vote and which party engages in voter suppression, gerrymandering and laws making it harder to vote.
