LETTER: Economic sabotage

After bungling the pandemic, President Trump and his dishonest corporate wealthy Republicans would now sabotage the economic recovery.

They attempt to force open the economy with little forethought as to the health and economic risks involved.

To force people back to work, they would impose extreme economic deprivation on workers by suspending or terminating temporary federal spending on worker support payments.

Trump and his billionaire supporters may create enough social unrest to justify more extreme policing measures against the public.

This cold-blooded approach stems from alleged concerns about the national debt.

This is a fraudulent concern as Republicans are responsible for most of that debt.

They used that debt to finance their unnecessary wars, their extravagant tax cuts, and their financial corruption induced 2007 recession recovery.

This represented 60 percent of the increase in the nation’s debt since 2000.

This unwarranted debt made the U.S. negligently unprepared for any national emergency.

Finally, from this chaos a voice of reason emerges from Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, paraphrased as follows:

Forget the national debt until the crisis has ended.

Deal with the pandemic first as the economy can’t be forced open if workers, business and consumers do not feel safe.

Spend what is necessary to support households and businesses for three to six months to avoid unnecessary human suffering.

Powell concludes that this should prevent catastrophic pandemic and economic collapse.

Trump and his corrupt corporate wealthy cabal have seriously damaged the nation.

They must be removed from power as soon as humanly possible.
