LETTER: Doesn’t see the point of the Twilight Festival in Forks

When I read this morning in the paper about the upcoming festivities in Forks concerning the August publication of the new Twilight book, the first thought that came to my mind was, what is wrong with those people?

I know that these books take place in Forks, and if I lived there I would be proud that someone had written about my hometown but let’s get real.

Books have been written in the past that have taken place in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, and many other cities in this country.

But you do not see their citizens having yearly parades and celebrations just because of a book.

I have an acquaintance who once lived in Forks who told me that one year the festivities tied up traffic so badly that it took more than two hours to navigate the main street in that city.

Suppose an ambulance had to get to the hospital, but was stuck in traffic because of the parade.

My suggestion is to be proud of the books, period.

There are more important things in the world.
