On Aug. 13, President Donald Trump said he opposes both election aid for states and an emergency bailout for the U.S. Postal Service because he wants to selectively restrict voting by mail.
The postal service informed 46 states and D.C. that it will not be able to process all the mail-in-voting in time to be counted for the Nov. 3 election.
The postal service has since said it won’t continue to make negative changes, although not promising to repair damages, after Congress called the postmaster in to testify.
We still need to take the vote in our hands and stymie the efforts by the president to corrupt the November election.
You can choose to:
• Mail back your ballot the day you receive it.
• Do not wait until the last week or day as your vote may not be counted.
• Deposit your ballot at an official ballot box.
This is the best and safest way to make sure your vote counts.
If this is impossible, cast your vote on Election Day. It’s not as physically safe, but the goal is to have your vote count.
In the recent history of our country we have never had elected or appointed leaders admit that they are trying to interfere with our right to vote by manipulating the mail.
By voting, you help to elect officials at all levels who serve all of us.
Make sure your voice is heard.
Please vote early.
