LETTER: Concerned that President Trump is creating a new normal

Is it now normal and acceptable for a sitting president to publicly insult, deride and name-call his rivals, his opponents and world leaders?

Trump coins derisive and petty nicknames for those he does not like.

You can see a list of more than a hundred on Wikipedia.

Is it now normal and acceptable for a sitting president to flat-out lie to the American people?

Not just misleading statements, but blatant and obvious lies that can be fact checked and shown to be false in seconds.

One list shows more than 15,000 in the last two to three years alone.

Is it now normal and acceptable for a sitting president to hand out important government positions like candy, with the only qualification being absolute loyalty to Trump — loyalty to him above all else, including the Constitution, the rule of law, the good of the people and the good of the country?

Is it now normal and acceptable for a presidential candidate to invite hostile foreign powers to come in and subvert our elections for their benefit?

And, as a sitting president, is it now normal behavior to use the power of the office to bribe, threaten and entice foreign powers to interfere in our elections?

Think about it folks, if Trump is not convicted and removed, then the system will have utterly and fatally failed.

This normal behavior will be OK for every future president, and guess what, those future presidents just might be Democrats.
