LETTER: Collins picks and chooses her numbers, causes

I have to comment on Gail Collins’ commentary published in the Peninsula Daily News on Jan. 26.

Throughout the article she cites all these numbers of gun violence victims and in the last few paragraphs she states there were 15,583 gun violence deaths … that occurred during the first year he (Trump) was president.

In comparison, on Feb. 16, 2017, on Page B3 of the New York Times (where she is a columnist) the headline read:

“Traffic Deaths, in estimate, Pass 40,000 for First Time Since ’07.”

I wonder why she doesn’t rant about traffic deaths?

She also says “The good news — you needed some, right? — is that the gun-safety advocates are not worn out.”

Funny thing is “gun-safety advocates” used to call themselves “gun-control advocates” until they figured out they weren’t inciting the ignorant.
