LETTER: Clallam sheriff should uphold the law in I-1639

Upholding the law

Lawless lawman or NRA puppet?

Bill Benedict should resign since he doesn’t want to do his job.

Don’t you suppose his oath of office included something about upholding the law?

When the highest ranking law enforcement officer in Clallam County refuses to enforce state law, how can anyone consider our democracy functional? (“Sheriffs view new gun law: On Peninsula, one awaiting courts, other says he must enforce law,” PDN, Feb. 3)

Benedict seems to have greater loyalty to the National Rifle Association than the electorate.

His foot dragging and whining about “unfunded mandates” are transparent attempts to subvert our democracy in service of big ammo.

Recall Bill Benedict.

David Freed,

Port Angeles
