It should be a no-brainer that Clallam PUD rates should be structured to incentivize home solar generation and also conservation.
We know that the marginal power sources available to the utility will continue to be more expensive.
Raising base rates will only make the problem worse for everyone.
I computed my base rates last year to be 46 percent of my total bill for electric and 77 percent of my total water bill.
I recall the base for electric was $9.05 in 2007, now it’s $36.34. And they want to raise the base rate?
Please, no.
I don’t think the service territory has grown much in those years.
Where is our incentive to conserve our vulnerable resources?
Those already doing a good job of conserving, and as usual, lower income users are affected disproportionately.
