I would like to thank the Peninsula Daily News for the commentary on the woman in Forks who is facing deportation (“West End Neighbor: Immigrant woman fearful of leaving life in Forks,” PDN, May 15).
It makes real to me the cost of our immigration policy as it is currently being administered.
Surely, we need to balance our need to secure our country with common sense and humanity.
A family that supports itself, educates its kids and pays taxes is not the same as a drug-dealing gang.
The current “one size fits all” approach is not only inhumane — it is ineffective by so often punishing those who would be excellent citizens.
