I was appalled when I read the article in the Aug. 6 Peninsula Daily News about the person from Edmonds who is requesting pet licensing information from the Clallam County Sheriff’s office, and threatening to publish law personnel addresses and social security number if the Sheriff’s Office “shames” him.
What’s a shame is that good laws and rules that promote disclosure and transparency can be so used by someone with a personal axe to grind.
We pay for this with our tax dollars either way.
Comply and use public resources to meet the request, or not comply and use our dollars to defend that course of action.
Sheesh.
I do continue to appreciate the poise, common sense, and plain talk that our Sheriff [Bill Benedict] has shown over the years.
I think we are lucky to have him.
Oh, dear.
I’ll probably have my address and Social Security number published, too.
