LETTER: Americans are all in this together

“Modern progressive liberalism which is responsible for every evil besetting our society today” (“Responsible for evil,” PDN, Sept. 27).

Being that I’m an intelligent progressive liberal born-again Christian American, it made me wonder what the letter writer was thinking.

Perhaps he’s upset about voting rights and equality under the law for minorities, women and LGBT Americans, which are not so much a liberal thing as a Constitutional “All men are created equal; life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” thing.

Maybe he’s upset about child labor laws, the 40-hour work week, worker protections or clean air, water and land.

Maybe it’s Social Security and Medicare.

These are just a few of the benefits that come to us from the liberal progressives.

Just what is his beef?

Yet, on the other hand, he doesn’t seem to have a problem with the venom-spewing pustule that is erupting out of the White House and the cancer which underlines this condition, the Evangelical movement and the Republican oligarch that pulls their strings.

I chalk up this line of anti-progressive thinking to the decades-long program of well-crafted right-wing disinformation and a poor thinking ecology.

Be aware and work on your thinking ecology, my fellow citizens. After all, we’re all in this together.
