LETTER: 2016 election was attack on our homeland

Pearl Harbor, 9/11 and now the 2016 election.

These were all attacks on the American homeland by foreign entities.

The first two were overt and violent attacks resulting in immediate destruction and loss of life.

But the 2016 election was a covert attack on the very core of America – our right to elect our own leaders.

In the first two attacks, America sustained severe flesh wounds, but in this election, the body America has contracted bone cancer.

Of course, the Russian hacking and massive social media campaign had an impact on the outcome.

What difference does it make if votes are changed after they have been cast through hacking, or before they are cast through lies and deception?

It’s true that “election By deception” has been a mainstay of the Republican Party for decades, but the 2016 election was controlled by a hostile foreign nation.

We have our first Russian puppet president — will he be the last or the first of many?

Prior to this election, even in my small circle of Facebook friends, I was surprised and dismayed to see many turning against Hillary with claims of corruption and stolen primaries, none of which I could verify in my research.

The 2000 election was an American coup, subverting the will of the people, but at least that crime was committed by Americans.

Last year, 2016, was an attack by outsiders.

You wanted change, but with Trump you’ve cut off your arm to spite your hand.
