AGNEW — The Peninsula Christian Writers group will celebrate its first anniversary when it meets at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

The group meets at the Peninsula Evangelical Friends Church, 1291 N. Barr Road.

There is no charge, though donations are welcome and all are invited.

To celebrate the event, the group will host a “show and tell.”

Writers are invited to bring their work in progress or any published work.

This is all-inclusive. Songs, poetry and short stories are welcome as well as fiction and non-fiction books. Secular pieces are always welcome.

The one criterion, group organizers note, is that the content does not dishonor God.

No excerpts

This is a show-and-tell only, organizers note; there will be no opportunity to read excerpts.

“Apparently there was a need for a group with a Judeo-Christian worldview, and because of my experience in working with many varied groups I was asked to organize the group,” coordinator Crystal Linn said.

“We are not an exclusive group and welcome everyone whether Christian or not,” she said.

In addition to organizing Peninsula Christian Writers, Linn, the executive director of a company offering services to writers, is working with Michael Bunnell of Skookum Bay Publishing to create a resource network for all writers in the area.

Linn and Bunnell, who wrote for Hollywood, said they look forward to connecting with more writers in the area.

Thursday meetings

The Peninsula Christian Writers meet at 6:30 p.m. the third Thursday of every month at Peninsula Evangelical Friends Church.

The group will not meet in December.
