World musicians to perform Saturday in Port Townsend

Instrumentalist Camelia Jade will perform a unique blend of North and South American styles.

PORT TOWNSEND — The Port Townsend Friends Meeting will host a benefit concert featuring Camelia Jade, a multi-instrumentalist, devoted to acoustic world music from North and South America at 7 p.m. Saturday.

The suggested donation will be $5 to $50 at the Friends Meetinghouse, 1841 Sheridan St.

A dessert social is set at 7 p.m. Music will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Jade will perform a blend of North and South American styles on guitar, charango, ronroco or bombo.

She learned South American music from a mentor in Seattle who was additionally a family friend when he was a political prisoner with her grandfather in Chile in the 1970s.

She has performed in Canada, Europe and on the West Coast since 2007. She is also a lead songwriter in the group Strong Sun Moon.

Performing percussion with Jade will be Dawn Reardon, a world-percussionist, poet, naturopathic doctor and owner of the Bear Root Apothecary.

The Meetinghouse concerts are a benefit to raise money for the loan on the Friends Meetinghouse.
