Work of Port Ludlow artists on display

PORT LUDLOW — A diverse exhibit, Art of Perspective, will be welcomed Wednesday in Port Ludlow.

A reception for the artists is set from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the lobby of the Sound Community Bank and from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Port Ludlow Art Gallery next door.

The bank and gallery are located at the corner of Oak Bay Road and Osprey Ridge Drive in Port Ludlow.

Each year, the Port Ludlow Art League challenges their members to create artwork in response to a theme. This year’s theme is the Art of Perspective. Participating artists met the challenge by creating artwork using their medium of choice.

All of the participating artists are the group’s Artist of the Month of October.

The Jeweler of the Month is Mary Lynn Laker.

Laker initially worked mostly with silver and copper, but over time she has added stone and beads.

As Jeweler of the Month, she crafted a collection of chain, gems, and Precious Metal Clay (PMC). PMC consists of very small particles of metal such as silver, gold, bronze, or copper mixed with an organic binder and water for use in making jewelry. When baked in a kiln, the binder burns away, leaving the pure sintered metal.

Mary Lynn’s jewelry will be on display at the Port Ludlow Art Gallery in October.
