Watercolor exhibit opens with Art Blast! concert at library

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Library will mark a new Art in the Library exhibit today with a quarterly Art Blast! celebration.

The opening reception for the new Art in the Library exhibit — a collection of work by the North Olympic Watercolorists — will be at 6:30 p.m., immediately preceding a performance by the Backwoods Hucksters, who will perform at 7 p.m.

Refreshments will be served and limited services will be available during this free after-hours library event at 2210 S. Peabody St.

The Backwoods Hucksters is a blues band at its core with members based throughout the Puget Sound, organizers said.

Band members weave bluegrass, country, folk, rock and country blues into a sound they call “mountain blues.”

The Hucksters feature Cort Armstrong on guitar and vocals, Sean Divine on harmonica and vocals, Jon Parry on fiddle and vocals, Paul Stehr-Green on bass and Tom Svornich on drums.

Visitors will have time to meet the featured artists, enjoy refreshments and view the new exhibit.

The members of the North Olympic Watercolorists are a cross-section of experience ranging from beginners to professionals.

Artists include Jolene Sanborn, Reiko Barclay, Beverly Beighle, Rita Heywood, Kathi Vito, Lyn Conlan, Roger Huntley, Margo Handel, John Wilkinson, Carol Wilhelm, Shirley Rudolf and Janet Flatley.

This exhibit will be on display at the Port Angeles Library through April 23.
