Virtual home, kitchen tour begins today

PORT TOWNSEND — AAUW Port Townsend has gone high tech.

The 23rd Annual Home & Kitchen Tour will be presented virtually over three days, beginning at 10 a.m. today.

Eleven homes — spread over Port Townsend, Port Ludlow and Marrowstone Island — are on the tour.

Two of them are yachts.

All can be viewed in 3-D in a virtual environment.

Select a home and control the mouse to see the house.

Tour-goers can look up, look down, move forward, move backward; stop when wanted at interesting points, such as a spectacular kitchen design, and learn more about it and attend a virtual seminar.

Those who just want to relax can turn the tour onto automatic mode and sit back to enjoy the walk-through.

Perhaps the best aspect is that people who have registered for the tour can come back many times to areas of interest over the three days.

Today, the first day of the event, the link for the tour website will come alive at 10 a.m. and continue until 9 p.m. Sunday.

Registration is $25 for three days of the tour. Sign up online at the AAUW Port Townsend website at pt-wa.aauw.net.

An extra donation to the American Association of University Women Port Townsend/University Women’s Foundation is possible if wanted.

AAUW will email registrants the tour link along with a Passport program booklet to view or print. Alternatively, a person can ask for a pre-printed program in the mail.

Four seminars are offered in addition to the virtual home tours. They are:

• Custom Cabinetry — Presented by Charlie Rawlins of Custom Cabinets, who explains the difference between custom and box cabinetry.

• 10 Questions to Consider Before Planning a Kitchen Project — Presented by Shelly Little of Studio STL.

• Construction Home Financing — Presented by FaLeana Welch of Evergreen Home Loans.

• Prepping for Cabinet Painting — Presented by Peninsula Paint Centers and Rogers Painting Group.

Proceeds go toward AAUW/UWF scholarships and educational funds for students in Jefferson County.
