Vibrant old-timey duo to play in Coyle’s Concert in Woods

COYLE — Lake Toba, a duo from Eugene, Ore., will perform in the ongoing Concerts in the Woods series at 3 p.m. Sunday.

Admission will be by donation to the matinee concert at the Laurel B. Johnson Community Center at 923 Hazel Point Road. Complimentary cookies and coffee will be served at intermission.

“When I first heard their song samples, I thought, ‘This is a duo that I must have on our Coyle schedule,’” said Norm Johnson, concert series organizer.

“Out of all the bands that I booked for 2017, this is the one that I have been most anxious to hear in a live performance. They play in an old-timey style, but with a quality and vibrancy that makes it fresh and alive. I can’t wait to hear their music.”

Kyle McGonegle and Liat Tova Lis sing original songs and perform on guitar, banjo and mandolin.

“They unravel a new story in each song with clear and heartfelt singing that exposes the emotion hidden in the verse,” according to the duo’s website at www.laketobamusic.com.

“The pair invites listeners into their world with warm conversation like old friends,” the website says.
