COYLE — Tim Bertsch, a versatile guitarist, will bring an eclectic collection of sounds to Concerts in the Woods at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
The concert will be in the Laurel B. Johnson Community Center at 923 Hazel Point Road.
Admission is by donation. Sunday’s all-ages concert will offer complimentary cookies and coffee at intermission.
‘Extraordinary guitarist’
“Tim Bertsch is truly an extraordinary guitarist, a professional musician who has mastered and combined many styles with this versatile instrument,” said Norm Johnson, concert series organizer.
“So be prepared for an exciting evening of sights and sounds from an expert guitarist/harp guitarist who can switch between jazz, flamenco, classical, blues and gypsy music. Plus hear the unique sound of the strange harp guitar.”
Bertsch is equally proficient on the electric guitar as on acoustic guitar/harp guitar and also plays bass, mandolin, ukelele and sitar, according to his website at www.timbertsch.com, which also says he is rooted in jazz, fusion, flamenco, rock, classical, blues and gypsy music.
Band member, soloist
He is a member of Jaded Mary and H.D. Fusion, and has performed as a soloist at festivals including Folklife, The Reno International Jazz Festival and The NAMM Show.
He has been featured in Acoustic Guitar Magazine and Classical Guitar Magazine. His songs have had placement on The Discovery Channel including the series “Lords of the Car Hoardes.”
Learned from others
“I’ve been fortunate to have studied with Larry Coryell, Emily Remeler, Beppe Gambetta, Joshua Breakstone and John Stowell as well as many other masters of the guitar,” Bertsch said.
