Vendors and demonstrations slated for Artisan Food Fest

PORT TOWNSEND — The Port Townsend Farmers Market will host its fifth annual Port Townsend Artisan Food Festival from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday on Tyler Street.

The free community celebration of local and artisan food will bring together more than 70 farm, artisan food and craft vendors, local chefs, live music and people of all ages.

Arran Stark of Jefferson Healthcare, Deb Taylor of Finistère and Jesse Rose of the Silverwater will host chef demonstrations featuring locally grown produce, cheese and eggs.

Mountain Spirit herbalist Denise Joy will demonstrate the art of tea making including locally sourced herbs.

Demonstrations will take place from 9:30 a.m. through the market day with free samples provided by each chef.

Also on the offerings list are:

• Mt. Townsend Creamery cheese paired with wine by Port Townsend Vineyards.

• Artisan food vendors including the Salmon Wagon, Barbarian Fine Cuisine, Paella House, Sweet Lamb Baking Company, Pane d’Amore Artisan Bakery and Crust.

• Serendipity Farm will offer tastes of pesto and salad dressings and Johnson & Gunstone Shellfish will serve raw as well as prepared shellfish as special additions to this event.

The Jefferson County YMCA and Port Townsend Farmers Market staff will host food-related art activities for children of all ages on the Rec Center grass.
