A surfing fundraiser, garden tour and anniversary of the Makah Museum are among the attractions on the North Olympic Peninsula this weekend.
• International Surfing Day will be celebrated at 6 p.m. today by the Olympic Peninsula Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation at Harbinger Winery at 2358 W. U.S. Highway 101.
Admission at the door is $30 for adults and $20 for students. Children 7 and younger are admitted free.
Tickets include dinner; a glass of wine, beer or soft drink; and a raffle ticket entry into prize drawings.
Little Devil’s Lunchbox will provide a taco bar, and live music will be performed by the garage surf band, Antbath.
A silent and live auction will feature a one-of-a-kind surfboard shaped by Bauer Surfboards with the artwork of Todd Fischer; a Todd Fischer painting, weekend getaways and Island Adventure Whale Watching Tours. A brand new Lib-Tech surfboard and snowboard, sustainable home and body products from Colibri and other prizes will be raffled off throughout the night.
• The Port Townsend Film Festival’s PTFF Focus will host “Sweetheart,” a queer coming-of-age film, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. tonight to mark Pride Month in partnership with Olympic Pride and Jefferson County Transgender Support.
“The Celluloid Closet,” a film about LGBTQ visibility in cinema, was shown Thursday.

• Petals & Pathways Home Garden Tour will showcase six home gardens on Saturday.
The self-guided tour will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Ticket holders can use the map printed on the ticket to visit any or all the gardens in any order. Two are in Port Angeles, and four are located along state Highway 112 with views of the Strait of Juan De Fuca.
Tickets are $15 in advance at local vendors and $20 on the day of the tour. They can be purchased until the day of the tour at Over the Fence, Sunny Farms and The Co-op Farm and Garden in Sequim; Port Book and News, Swain’s General Store, Airport Garden Center and Fiddleheads Home & Garden in Port Angeles; Arts & Antiques in Joyce; and Forks Outfitters and Rusty Gate Nursery in Forks.

• Makah Museum at 1880 Bayview Ave. in Neah Bay will mark its 43rd anniversary with a lecture on the Ozette archaeological site and a pop-up sale from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
Alex “Swiftwater” McCarty, a Makah artist, will present a lecture, “Ozette: A Gift From the Past,” at 1 p.m. in the Makah Museum’s classroom.
In addition, the board and Makah Cultural and Research Staff will honor Kirk Wachendorf, retiring interpretive specialist for the Makah Museum since it opened in 1979.
McCarty, a well-known artist, worked on the excavation of the Ozette archaeological site that began in 1970. Ancient longhouses had been buried in a mudslide and perfectly preserved artifacts were housed in Neah Bay as the Makah Museum’s permanent collection.
A carver, painter, printmaker and teacher, he earned a bachelor’s in visual arts from The Evergreen State College in 2000 and a master’s in teaching from there in 2002.
After earning his master’s, he taught art at Chief Leschi Schools.
• The Port Townsend Urban Sketchers will meetat the flagpole near the intersection of Washington and Benedict streets at 10 a.m.
The dock has commercial boats and U.S. Coast Guard vessels to sketch plus nearby buildings such as port facilities, West Marine store, Port Townsend Garden Center, Propolis Brewery, the Pourhouse, Sea J’s Café and Pane D’Amore Bakery.
After sketching, the group will reconvene at the flagpole at 12:15 p.m. to share their work and take a photo.
The event is open to all skill levels.

• Sequim Valley Lions Club’s 10th Crab Feed will be from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday in Pioneer Memorial Park, 387 E. Washington St.
Meals are $40, $30 for the half-crab dinner, which also includes corn, coleslaw, a roll and soda or bottled water. Westside pizza, beer and wine also will be available. Live music will be performed by the Old Sidekicks and karaoke will be hosted by Lyle and Donna.

• Country and Western Hoedown at Fairwinds Winery, which was recently postponed, has been rescheduled for noon to 5 p.m. Saturday.
The hoedown at Fairwinds Winery, 1984 Hastings Ave., will feature Buck Ellard and his band from noon to 2 p.m. and will include other live country music, as well as food and drink.

• Now & Then: A Photo Story of The Place Called Port Townsend will be on view at the Jefferson Museum of Art & History, 540 Water St., in Port Townsend for the final day on Sunday.
Throughout the 2022 school year, Port Townsend High School students in David Egeler’s Photography and Advanced Media classes selected historic images from the Jefferson County Historical Society’s collections, then found the location where the photos were taken and worked to recreate the exact framing and angle of view in the present day.
The resulting photo essays visually illustrate some of the ongoing evolution of Port Townsend.
